Whenever I felt myself overwhelmed by school and life, I would try to go on a walk and enjoy my surroundings. I escaped from my life by enjoying life.
Iāve been a student my entire life. Just because āschoolā is over, doesnāt mean Iāll stop being a student - my desire to learn will never stop.
I attended Green River College and transferred into UW in the Fall of 2020. My original plan to major in Communication quickly evolved into a double major with International Studies.
While I donāt regret it, it was often dreadful. Life got exceptionally busy, insanely stressful, and freakishly overwhelming. However, it also pushed me outside my comfort zone, opening my eyes to harsh truths while teaching me the extent of what I can be capable of with the correct mindset and proper skillset - to which I can always develop!
I felt like each day I found more to appreciate about my campus, situated firmly in U-District Seattle. The campus itself was stunning and full of life, where the people I connected with were vivid and bright - and not just academically, I mean they were bright with ambition.
I was surrounded by so many individuals, all with their own unique perspectives and knowledge to share. Every day was a different topic, which would more-often-than-not prompt improvised conversations and dialogue. Yet⦠as the years inched on, and graduation no longer felt like it would be a late-future milestone, the same questions kept popping up: What am I going to do with my life? What are my ambitions? And truthfully, what do I want to do with my life?
The idea of graduating from University was always far on the horizon, so I felt wholly unprepared to pass over the finish line. Now that I have, and now that school is further in the past, things are beginning to make a bit more sense.
Perhaps, after spending so much time being on this pipeline of school, it wouldnāt hurt to delay my timeline for a while.
This series is a nod to my time as a student, in which I found enlightenment even while outside of the classroom. As such, these are photos of my campus between classes, going to the gym, and simply going on a leisure stroll.
