#11: Making my Art
As a person, I make my art for many purposes: A source of creativity, to escape, to feel and to remember, and to explore new ideas, perspectives, concepts, etc. The list goes on.
As an artist, my art is a part of my self. Both myself, as well as my Self.
My writing is a form of self expression, my photography is a form of expressing how I see the world; both art forms work together to help me tap into my source of creativity and self-expression.
Graphic Design is a new thing that I’m exploring through my website, which allows me to channel it into one centralized platform - almost like a fun little stage for me to perform on~
My art has become a visual expression of my creativity.
My photography is still new, but it’s flourishing in a way I have been proud of.
I feel a calling to express myself - I’m getting my ideas and thoughts out there right now, sharing what I’m learning and reflecting on.
Photography is an expression of my imagination and inspiration, while writing is a combined expression of my inner voice and at many points my imagination - especially when I let the pen flow with a story~
Some of the topics I’ve been writing about are challenging for some people and for varying reasons. But for me, they’re fun to think about for a while - not forever, but certainly for a period of time.
“When people call me a photographer, I always feel like something of a charlatan—at least in Japanese. The word shashin, for photograph, combines the characters sha, meaning to reflect or copy, and shin, meaning truth, hence the photographer seems to entertain grand delusions of portraying truth.”
My Thoughts: Through photography, I capture my truth - in essence, I'm capturing my own perspective
I don’t want to stifle my imagination and creativity, but I also don’t have the attention span and drive to deep-dive some more than others due to dopamine, motivation, and inspiration.
So, I write what inspires me to write, sprinkling in my photography so I can add an extra layer of creative expression in my work.
There’s far more to it, but at this point in time?
This is where I stand.
